Ever wondered how something as simple as buying a lottery ticket can make a huge difference? When you support the Deaf Lottery, you’re not just chasing a chance to win big prizes—you’re helping us bring life-changing services to Deaf seniors across Australia. Here’s how your support makes an impact.
Thanks to our amazing supporters, Deaf Connect’s Ageing Well Home Care Service has expanded to even more parts of the country. Already established in Queensland, New South Wales, the Australian Capital Territory, and South Australia, we’re thrilled to announce that this vital service is now available in Western Australia and Victoria too. That means more Deaf, deafblind, and hard of hearing seniors can access the care they need to live independently in their first language – Auslan (Australian Sign Language).
What makes Ageing Well so special? It’s a service designed specifically with Deaf seniors in mind. Funded through the Federal Government’s Home Care Package program, it delivers in-home care in Auslan, respecting and celebrating the cultural and linguistic identity of each client.
For Deaf seniors, staying connected to their language, culture, and community plays a huge role in ensuring that they can maintain healthy social connections. By offering tailored care packages that include personal care, social activities, home safety, and more, we ensure Deaf seniors can age with dignity, independence, and the support they deserve.
Dr. Leena Vuorinen, our General Manager for Ageing Well, captures it perfectly:
“We’re not just providing care; we’re helping people live their lives with pride and confidence, surrounded by a community that values their identity.”
Every time you buy a Deaf Lottery ticket, you’re helping us deliver these vital services to more people. Your support means that Deaf seniors can continue to live their best lives, knowing they’re cared for by a team who understands their unique needs. And with tickets starting at just $2, making a difference has never been easier.
So next time you think about buying a Deaf Lottery ticket, remember—it’s not just a chance to win a prize, it’s an opportunity to help build a future where every Deaf senior is supported, respected, and celebrated.
