“My kids and I have had to overcome many obstacles since my husband died. I think we will spoil ourselves with the winnings.”

We are continually touched by the generosity of our supporters, who are often facing their own hardships but continue to support us through Deaf Lottery ticket purchases. Deborah, our Lottery 180 7th Prize winner, was so generous with her story, that we thought we’d let her tell it in her own words…

“I was blown away when I found out I had won. I was at work, and just sat dumbfounded for a little while.

I am a teacher, supporting students with disabilities and learning difficulties, and a single parent to 2 beautiful kids. My kids and I have had to overcome many obstacles since my husband died, so this has been a pleasant surprise. I think we will spoil ourselves a little with the winnings.

This is my first year as a Deaf Lottery supporter. My involvement with students that are hard of hearing will motivate me to continue supporting. I would definitely encourage others to do so as well.”

We would like to thank Donelle for sharing her story with us, and for being an amazing example of what it means to truly look after those around us.
