Meet Our Lottery 186 Winners

186 Winner 1600 X 800

Retirement just got easier for Elodie and Steve after winning $800,000 in The Deaf Lottery!

Ticket Number: 0380492 | Location: Victoria Park 6979 | Amount: $800,000

In a time when we’re painfully aware of the distance between us, it was a thrill to connect with our Lottery 186 1st Prize Winners Steve and Elodie*, all the way from Victoria Park, Western Australia, to tell them the amazing news that they’d just won $800,000!

Our Sales Manager Alex made the call from her home and spoke first to Steve, whose first response was “this is a hoax call, right?” Alex assured him it was very real, and Steve asked if he could put his wife, Elodie, on the line.

“Steve is hard of hearing,” Elodie explained. “This is such amazing news!”

Steve and Elodie have been supporting The Deaf Lottery since 2009, and have been $10 VIPs since 2014.

“Steve’s brother is Deaf,” said Elodie. “We buy tickets to help people like him.”

Elodie told us they had spent all morning waiting for someone to come and fit new window blinds, but they hadn’t turned up on time. Alex suggested they may want to upgrade from blinds to a brand new Metricon home with their amazing windfall, where they can choose every aspect of their design – not just blinds!

“We’ll go out for champagne now I think,” said Elodie. “It’s definitely a time to celebrate!”

Elodie said she and Steve would take time to decide on what to do with the money, but that their plans would definitely include visiting family, which they have “spread all over the state!”.

With both Steve and Elodie being retired, Alex agreed a leisurely trip or three was definitely in order.

From everyone at Deaf Services we would like to wish Elodie and Steve all the very best, and thank them for their ongoing support of Deaf Australians through The Deaf Lottery.
