Meet Nastasia, part of the Deaf Services Contact Centre team.
Nastasia started working with Deaf Services as an external Sales Agent for The Deaf Lottery, before joining our Contact Centre.
“My first connection to the Deaf community was sharing the awareness of Deaf Services in major shopping centres,” Nastasia says. “I was so excited when I was offered the opportunity to join the team or, as I see it, the family.”
Like so many of her colleagues, Nastasia greets her day’s work with enthusiasm and a passion for the community she is representing.
“I love meeting new supporters over the phones, sharing our story and raising funds to empower and connect the Deaf community,” she says. “I love to change peoples’ lives every day.”
Nastasia describes that what fuels her passion most is the knowledge that even “after a long hard day’s work”, she has made a difference.
“I will always be grateful for my hearing and just because of that I want others to enjoy life as much as I do. Seeing how the Deaf community benefits from Deaf Lottery funding is the greatest reward.”
Nastasia also loves learning about Deaf Lottery winners, and how their lives have been changed.
“It’s amazing,” she says. “Some of their stories are absolutely inspirational and it just makes sense as to why they have won. The fact we run seven lotteries a year is phenomenal. We put so many smiles on people’s faces!”
When asked about the best supporter call she’s ever made, Nastasia shares a very special experience.
“I spoke to a gentleman who was blessed with a second chance in life,” she says. “After struggling for most of his days and losing his beloved wife of over 30 years, he decided to make a difference, and completely do the opposite of everything that he used to do. He was so committed in helping Deaf children that he bought a book of tickets one day every week for seven weeks until the Lottery was drawn.”
