A Historic Moment for the Deaf Lottery: Our First Millionaire Winner!

After an incredible 2025, made possible by supporters like you, we wanted to do something extra. Something big. Something unforgettable. Something that would change the history of the Deaf Lottery forever. 

And with Draw 227, we did exactly that! For the first time ever, the prize was increased to a huge one million dollars. 

This milestone was our way of giving back. 2025 was such an amazing year, and we wanted this draw to be a thank you to all the incredible supporters who get behind such a great cause. 

And incredible it truly was. On Thursday 5 February 2026, we had the joy of calling the lucky winner to share news that would change her life forever. 

Deaf Connect’s CEO, Brett Casey, made the call. In Brisbane, our team gathered in the Deaf Kitchen, holding our breath as the number rang… and rang… with no answer. 

Then, five minutes later, the phone rang back. And just like that, the moment arrived! Brett shared the incredible news: this supporter held the winning ticket. The surprise was unforgettable. You could feel the excitement in the room as he walked her through all the prize options and explained how she could claim her million-dollar windfall. 

Based in New South Wales, the winner said the first person she’d tell was her husband. Even then, it didn’t quite feel real.
