Lottery 221: Twice a Winner, Twice as Grateful

D L221 Winners Story Web 29

Meet Vicki, our latest Deaf Lottery winner – and someone with an extraordinary story to tell.

Vicki, 70, is based on the Gold Coast and is no stranger to good news from the Deaf Lottery. She first won back in 1998, choosing a BMW and gold as her $200,000 prize package. Now, more than two decades later, the Deaf Lottery prize has gotten a lot bigger - and she’s a winner again.

"I wasn't expecting to give someone the news that they're $800,000 richer, only to have them say "What ... again?!" - Ian Harvey Ross, Head of Marketing & Sales at Deaf Connect.

This couldn’t have come at a better time for Vicki and her husband. The couple is celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary this year, and they've been eyeing off some much needed upgrades to their home. The night before the draw, Vicki admits she was lying awake worrying about how they’d fund the $60,000 renovation. The next day, she got the call telling her she’d won.

Travel is also high on the list. Vicki and Eldon are planning an 18-day trip through Europe to mark their milestone anniversary, making the most of the prize to create memories with family at the heart of it all.

Vicki has been a loyal Deaf Lottery VIP for 15 years. She believes in supporting the Deaf community – and she says she’s living proof that it pays to stay hopeful. Her father’s words ring true for her:

“If you really need something in life, it will happen for you."

Thank you so much for your long running support Vicki - people like you really do make a huge difference to our work.
